Traffic lights optimisation

Traffic lights optimisation

Optimizing traffic light regulation improves traffic flow by redistributing phases based on Lisa+ software calculations. It requires intensity data for road users and existing phases. This approach helps local governments efficiently manage nodes, optimize traffic light usage, plan development, and forecast demand. The model serves as a visual platform to simulate changes and obtain optimized or predictive phases. It addresses the growing car use and potential issues at problem junctions. Each scenario predicts travel time, speed changes, reduced congestion, and maintenance needs. With an established model considering real flows, phases can be optimized multiple times with parameter adjustments.

To optimise the traffic lights we will need:
to collect data on the volumes of traffic and pedestrian flows
to collect data on the volumes of traffic and pedestrian flows
create a network graph of intersections with traffic light regulation, indicating lane numbers, permitted transport types, maneuvers, traffic organization schemes, etc.
create a network graph of intersections with traffic light regulation, indicating lane numbers, permitted transport types, maneuvers, traffic organization schemes, etc.
to obtain data on the existing signal programs of traffic lights
to obtain data on the existing signal programs of traffic lights
